Celebrating National Blood Donor Month

Jan 30, 2023

January is National Blood Donor Month, a cause that is very close to home for the crew at Monroe Truck Equipment. In early March of 2020 our Marketing Team Lead, Amanda Field, spearheaded a blood donation initiative at Monroe HQ. Donating blood was an especially important cause for Amanda as she has been the recipient of a life-saving blood donation. Understanding the impact of donating blood helped to move this movement forward for the Monroe team.

A History of Giving

Over the past few years, our team at Monroe Truck Equipment in Monroe, WI has committed to hosting an in-house blood drive every 9 weeks. This schedule has given our team an opportunity to easily donate life saving blood and blood components to the American Red Cross, in an effort to further support our community.

Last year the Monroe team was recognized by the American Red Cross as one of its Premier Blood Partners for the year, a prestigious honor, for its support of the community and national blood supply. Since 2020, Monroe Truck Equipment has hosted a total of 17 drives and collected a massive 729 units of blood. We are grateful for the opportunity to help improve and even save lives in this community and across the country.

We were also recently honored with the Employer-Sponsored Blood Drives Grant from the The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Chronic Disease Prevention Program. This grant allows us, and other qualifying businesses, to receive funds to help fund future blood drives.

Recognizing and Honoring Donors

B

Fifty-four years ago former President Richard Nixon proclaimed January as National Blood Donor Month. The proclamation was meant to honor voluntary blood donors and to encourage more people to give blood to help save the lives of their neighbors and citizens across the country.

The month of January also serves as a reminder to roll up your sleeve and donate whenever you can. Without the generosity of those who give so selflessly, millions of patients each year would not have the blood they require for emergency needs or ongoing treatments.

Committed To Our Community
